THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS OF GURIA AND ADJARIA / May 14-21, 2024
Day 1 (May 14)
After arriving at the airport near Kutaisi (around 1pm depending on which direction you are coming from), after exchanging money and buying SIM cards and snacks for the road, we will head to the village of Vani. Here two different attractions await us: the first is the hot springs, where we will be able to soak our bodies in the sulfuric water, and the second is the Archaeological Museum, where we will learn about the history of Georgia. For dinner and overnight we will stay in Vani.
Day 2 (May 15)
After breakfast, we will depart for Bakhmaro. Bakhmaro is a mountain resort in Guria, where the air from above the sea is combined with mountain air, giving the resort excellent healing conditions and is considered one of the most popular mineral and spa resorts in Georgia. It is surrounded by evergreen spruce and fir forests. In Bakhmaro there are mountain huts where Georgians spend their free time. We will reach the village of Khidistavi (Niniguri) for an overnight stay.
Day 3 (May 16)
From Khidistavi we will travel to Petra Fortress, a historic fortress city in Adjaria, on the territory of Tsikhisdziri village. The fortress city is located on the Black Sea coast, 440 meters above sea level, 9 km from Kobuleti. The archaeological complex includes the Citadel, outside the city and the settlement. The ruins of the palace, historic baths, outbuildings and soldiers' residences, as well as a basilica from the 6th to 7th centuries, which is the remains of the bishop's cathedral, have been preserved in the citadel. After visiting the fortress, an evening in Batumi awaits us. We will stroll along the promenade, view the monument to Ali and Nino to end the day with dinner and an overnight stay in Batumi apartments.
Day 4 (May 17)
On this day we will go on a tour rich in Georgian architectural gems. We will see the bridge of Queen Tamara, Georgia's most famous ruler. Also on our tour is the Skhalta Orthodox Monastery, founded in the 13th century. We will climb a hill (6 km round trip) where the medieval Khikhani Castle, once the most important fortification in Adjari, is located in a strategic and very picturesque place. For dinner and overnight we will stay in a nearby village.π‘.
Day 5 (May 18)
After breakfast, we will set off from Khikhani to Lake Shuamta. From there, the road will take us towards the mountainous Goderdzi Pass, from where we will hike to the Green Lake. Then we will visit the Beshumi resort. We will spend the night in a village near Goderdzi Pass.β°οΈ
Day 6 (May 19)
After breakfast we will go on a sightseeing tour of Vardzia, The rock city itself in Vardzia will surely delight you, it is one of the "must see" attractions in Georgia. There are about 300 rooms left of the entire complex to explore. Rock chambers, corridors, as well as a monastery and a chapel with beautifully preserved frescoes, plus a view of the valley with the Mtkvari River flowing below. After a full day of sightseeing, we will settle in for an overnight stay and dinner in Vardzia.πΈ
Day 7 (May 20)
From Vardzia we will leave for the Rabati fortress in Akhaltsikhe. We will stroll through the restored courtyards and cloisters of this 900-year-old citadel. A beautifully restored structure, combining many styles. In places like our eagles' nests, at times like a princess palace from Disney fairy tales, and topped off with a mosque, polished domes, neat flower beds, a very romantic place. After visiting Rabati we will set off towards the capital of Imereti: Kutaisi. In Kutaisi itself we will see the Kolchida Fountain, Bagrati Cathedral and other attractions of the city, one of which is the Green Bazaar, where we will buy souvenirs and Georgian specialties to take back to Poland. That day, the last supra at Tina's in Kutaisi.π·
Day 8 (May 21)
This is the day of departure. After breakfast and packing we will leave for the airport.βοΈ
The plan is quite detailed, but it is always subject to change if only due to weather conditions or temporary road closures. You have to remember that Georgia, as beautiful as it is, is also unpredictable, but you love it for that.β€οΈ
Georgia, which lies at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, will always be both familiar and exotic to us. On the one hand, the famous Georgian hospitality, on the other hand, the culture and traditions that are not fully understood for us. We guarantee that you will fall in love as we did with Georgian cuisine, wine, mountains and people.β€οΈ

50 EUR (booking advance) on account + 600 EUR payable on the spot upon arrival (total 650 EUR).
Those who are determined should first of all buy air tickets. This is a guarantee of the trip for us. Then, after sending confirmation of ticket purchase, a reservation deposit is required within 7 days, in case of cancellation the deposit is non-refundable).
Number of places strongly limited, only intimate groups. The minimum number of people for the tour to take place is 4.
