Imereti-Racha2
AUTUMN RACHA / 6-13.10.2023
Day 1 (October 6)
After picking up from the airport (around 1:00 pm depending on which city you are arriving from) near Kutaisi, exchanging money (from euros or dollars to lari), buying SIM cards we will head to the picturesque Shaori Lake, here we will take a short rest, have a snack and go to visit Nikortsminda Monastery, which is one of the most revered monuments in Georgia. This is already the territory of Racha region, where we will head to Oni village for dinner and overnight. Racha is a region overlooked in many guidebooks, which is a pity, because the landscape here resembles the Swiss Alps in places: rushing clear streams, waterfalls and snow-capped glacier peaks are impressive, as you will be able to see for yourself.ποΈ
Day 2 (October 7)
On this day, after breakfast, we will drive by car to the village of Chiora (1353 m), from where we will start our trekking up to Notsara to reach an altitude of 2577 m. The entire route will be 17.8 km. We will stay here for the night under tourist tents (we have in stock, you will just have to bring them in )). We will make a bonfire, cook dinner and enjoy the scenery around us, certainly the views will not disappoint us, and the sunset and sunrise in the Caucasus will reward every kilometer we walk and every drop of sweat on our backs.πΈ
### Day 3 (October 8)
After rolling up camp and breakfast, we will set out on our return 17.8 km to the village of Chiora. A couple of hours downhill and then a well-deserved relaxation at the Gesthouse, where we will stay for the night and a dinner spiked with wine and perhaps chacha. Overnight in Chiora or Ghebi (to be determined as the group gathers).πΈ
Day 4 (October 9)
After breakfast, we will head to the village of Khvanckhara, where we will participate in a tasting of delicious wines. Next on our route is Gvirishi Waterfall, named after the village of Kveda Gvirishi (Lower Gvirishi). The water flows from the top of the mountain and falls into the Lajanuri River. We will arrive at Nasperi village for overnight stay and dinner.
Day 5 (October 10)
The next day is a day of trekking from the village of Alpana to Sairme Pillars. The route will be about 6 kilometers in total. For those who are more lazy or tired, we suggest a walk from the other side of the hill and a view of Sairme Pillars from a slightly different perspective of the park. Dinner and overnight in the town of Tsageri. π
Day 6 (October 11)
In the morning we will leave towards Kulbaka, here we will relax at the Green Lake, where there will be an opportunity to taste fresh fish. Here to consider 2 options: we can get to the lakes by car or walk along an interesting trail, or we can split into 2 groups. Then we will already set off to Kutaisi, where we will first go to the famous bazaar, where we will be able to buy Georgian delicacies and souvenirs. Then we will see the Bagrati Cathedral, the city center with the Kolchida Fountain, the White and Red Bridges over the Rioni River, Amusement Park, where for those willing there will be an opportunity to take a gondola lift with a panoramic view of the city. In Kutaisi we will have our last dinner and overnight stay.π·
Day 7 (October 12)
On our last day in Imereti, we will go to explore its main attractions: the famous Prometheus Cave with its beautiful overhangs and rock infiltrations. Then the abandoned sanatoriums in Tskaltubo, where not only Urbex fans will be delighted by the architecture of the extinct buildings. And finally Martvili Canyon, after which, if the weather is good, we may be able to take a pontoon boat ride. Farewell supra and overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 8 (October 13)
After breakfast, packing and transportation to the airport.βοΈ
The plan is quite detailed, but it is always subject to change if only due to weather conditions or temporary road closures. You have to remember that Georgia, as beautiful as it is, is also unpredictable, but you love it for that. π¬πͺβ€οΈπ΅π±
Georgia, which lies at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, will always be both familiar and exotic to us. On the one hand, the famous Georgian hospitality, on the other hand, the culture and traditions that we do not fully understand. We guarantee that you will fall in love as we did with Georgian cuisine, wine, mountains and people. π¬πͺβ€οΈπ¬πͺ
