"THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS" / August 13-20, 2024
Day 1 (August 13)
After picking up from the airport (around 1:00 pm depending on which city you are arriving from) in Kutaisi, exchanging money (from euros or dollars to lari), buying SIM cards we will hit the road to the former capital of Georgia Mtskheta. This ancient city located at the mouth of the Aragva River to Mtkvari is an important symbol of Georgia. It was here that the Christian religion was proclaimed as the state religion in 337 after St. Nino introduced Christianity. We will visit the monastery of Svetitskhoveli. We will stay at a family gesthous for dinner and overnight.π
Day 2 (August 14)
On this day we will cross the mountainous Datvisjvari Pass located at an altitude of 2670 m. We will see Pirikita, the territory of the main ridge of the Caucasus. We will pass through the Khevsureti region with Shatili, the informal capital of the region. We will reach Ardoti, an abandoned Khevsureti village, for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 (August 15)
After breakfast, we will set out for the medieval fortress of Mutso. Situated on a hill with numerous towers and with isolated rooms where human bones lie, it makes a mystical impression. On the one hand, the picturesque location and breathtaking views, on the other, the horrifying sight of human remains to some. We will also visit the extinct village of Anatori. For dinner and overnight we will arrive in Shatila.
Day 4 (August 16)
In Shatila we will visit the fortress, which is a system of defensive towers connected to each other by streets and tunnels. It is characterized by peculiar roofs, laid without mortar from flat slate stones. We will drive to Khargali, where the Museum of Vaja Pshavela, a Georgian poet who wrote about mountains, is located. For dinner and overnight we will arrive in Pasanauri village, which is located on the Georgian War Road. In Pasanauri you can observe the phenomenon of the merging of the two colors of the White and Black Aragvi rivers.
Day 5 (August 17)
After breakfast, we will set off by car towards the Khada Gorge. "Khada" means "mountain" and has been inhabited since Neolithic times. In the gorge we will taste water from mineral springs, make a small trek (2.8 km) to the waterfall of the same name. For dinner and overnight we will drive to Gudauri, on the way stopping for the obligatory photos at the Gudauri Panorama, where the Russian-Georgian Friendship monument is located.
Day 6 (August 18)
After breakfast we will drive to the village of Juta, from where we will begin an 8 km trek through the iconic Juta Valley. Views and chillout in nature guaranteed. For those willing, there is the possibility of renting horses and viewing the area from their backs, but we recommend, however, exploring the route on your own feet. On this day we will see the most recognizable symbol of Georgia, the Trinity Gergeti Church otherwise known as Tsminda Sameba, located so that we will see the village of Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) below, and in the background a view of the peak of Kazbek. For dinner and overnight we will go to Tbilisi.ποΈ
Day 7 (August 19)
Tbilisi Tour awaits us on this day. We will visit the old city with Abanotubani district, take the Narikala railroad, walk on the Peace Bridge. After lunch, we will leave for our return trip to Kutaisi. In the evening here we will have our last supper together and stay overnight.π·
Day 8 (August 20)
After breakfast, packing and leaving for Kutaisi airport.βοΈ
The plan is quite detailed, but it is always subject to change if only due to weather conditions or temporary road closures. You have to remember that Georgia, as beautiful as it is, is also unpredictable, but you love it for that.β€οΈ
Georgia, located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, will always be both familiar and exotic to us. 50 EUR (booking advance) on account + 670 EUR payable on the spot upon arrival (total 720 EUR).
Those who are determined should first of all buy air tickets. This is a guarantee of the trip for us. Then, after sending confirmation of ticket purchase, a reservation deposit is required within 7 days, in case of cancellation the deposit is non-refundable).
Number of places strongly limited, only intimate groups. The minimum number of people for the tour to take place is 4.
