May tour / April 29 - May 6, 2023

Day 1 (April 29)

After picking up from the airport (around 1 pm depending on which city you are arriving from) in Kutaisi, exchanging money (from euros or dollars to lari), and purchasing SIM cards, we will head to Prometheus Cave. Here we will be able to admire the beautifully illuminated stalactites and stalagmites. Then we will head to Martvili Canyon, where, in addition to walking among the fabulous rocks, there will be an opportunity to take a pontoon boat ride on the turquoise surface of the water. We will also visit the Martvili Monastery and then head to the town of the same name for dinner and overnight. 🕍

Day 2 (April 30)

After breakfast, we will head towards the village of Salkhino, where the Dadiani summer residence is located, which we will visit. Later we will make a 4.5 km trek to Intsra Waterfall. For dinner and overnight we will arrive in the village of Jvari. ⛰️

Day 3 (May 1)

From Jvari we will set off to visit the Enguri Dam, which at one time was the highest (272 m) arch dam in the world, today it ranks 7th in this respect. The hydroelectric power plant on the Enguri River lies partly on the territory of Abkhazia, which it also supplies with electricity. A boat tour is available on site. After visiting the dam, we will go to the village of Mazeri (this is already the territory of Svaneti), from where a 9 km trek to the Shdugra Waterfall awaits us from the "Hiker cafe". Overnight stay will probably be in Mazeri (under determination). 🏔️

Day 4 (May 2)

From Mazeri a scenic route awaits us to the high mountain town of Mestia. Here there are 2 museums to visit, one about climber Mikheil Khergiani and an ethnographic museum. And the highlight of the day is a 5 km trek towards the Chaaladi Glacier. Finally, relax on the swings at Heshkili Huts. Overnight in Mestia. 🗻

Day 5 (May 3)

From Mestia we will go to the village of Tetnuldi to admire the mountain landscapes. Then we will face a steep climb of 1.2 km to the monastery "Lagurka". From here we will go along the winding Swanecky roads to Ushguli. This village, located at over 2200 meters above sea level, has 4 hamlets (Zhibiani, Chvibiani, Chazhashi and Murkmeli) and is famous for its stone defense towers. The wildness and ruggedness of this place will surely delight you. Overnight stay overlooking Shkara. 🏔️

Day 6 (May 4)

On that day, after a Georgian breakfast, we will enjoy a horseback ride (20 km in total, broken in half by glacier trekking) and an approach to the Shkhara Glacier. In the afternoon we will visit the village of Ushguli, if there is enough time and strength we will climb up to the hill where there is the Tower of queen Thamar. Dinner and overnight still in Ushguli. 🐎

Day 7 (May 5)

On this day we will be watching the world mainly from behind the car windows, as we are facing an approximately 6-hour drive back to Kutaisi. No worries, there will be stops and the route leading through mountain passes with rushing streams below will certainly provide us with many attractions. Upon arrival in Kutaisi if there is enough time to shop in the bazar and visit Bagrati Cathedral. Last supra and overnight in Kutaisi. 🍷

Day 8 (May 6)

After breakfast, packing and transport to the airport. We can visit the bazaar on the way. ✈️

The plan is quite detailed, but it is always subject to change if only due to weather conditions or temporary road closures. You have to remember that Georgia, as beautiful as it is also unpredictable, but you love it for that.❤️

Georgia, located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, will always be both familiar and exotic to us. On the one hand, the famous Georgian hospitality, on the other hand, the culture and traditions that are not fully understood for us. Price ✨

50 EUR (booking advance) on account + 450 EUR payable on the spot upon arrival (500 EUR in total).

Those who are determined should first of all buy air tickets. This is a guarantee of the trip for us. Then, after sending confirmation of ticket purchase, a reservation deposit is required within 7 days, in case of cancellation the deposit is non-refundable).

The number of places is severely limited. The minimum number of people on the trip is 4. Only intimate groups.
